About this Project
Trip Focus: Clean water access, youth ministry
We are taking a team of volunteers on an exciting trip to El Salvador to help provide clean water for people who can’t access it otherwise. Together, the team will be working on the construction, installation and monitoring of BioSand Water Filters, as well as taking part in discipleship initiatives and outreach in the community receiving the water filters.
Simple, Canadian-designed BioSand Water Filters (BSF) use layers of sand, gravel, and naturally occurring micro-organisms to transform contaminated water into safe water in seconds. In addition to a BSF, families receive health and hygiene training to foster positive behaviour changes and overall health improvements for families. The team will be hosted by our partner organization – Agua Viva (Living Water); they are committed to the implementation and proclamation of the Gospel in a holistic manner in order to achieve human transformation.
The team will also be spending a few days in the capital city, San Salvador, serving alongside another partner who reaches out to at-risk kids, youth, and gang members through soccer.
What are the accommodations?
Accommodations will be clean, safe, and basic. Teams typically stay in the same community where the filters are being installed, along with the national team. Often, this is a church facility with separate spaces for male and female participants.
What will we eat?
Amazing traditional Salvadorian food.
What does the trip cost include?
The trip cost covers the flight, ministry supplies, transportation, lodging, and meals on the ground. It does not include passport fees, immunizations, snacks, meals in the airport, or souvenirs.
